Students of Industrial Engineering UNS visit Lawrence Technological University and the IEOM Society Office


Nurruddin Baidowi and William Elian Gandana are students in the Industrial Engineering Department of Sebelas Maret University (UNS), Surakarta, Indonesia. They are part of an exchange program and have been visiting Lawrence Technological University (LTU) for one month.  During  exchange program for a month (October 2019), they done some activities, including sit in class, buddy’s with LTU students, site visit to industry and city tour. Lawrence Technological University (LTU), frequently referred to as Lawrence Tech, is a private university in Southfield, Michigan. Lawrence Tech was founded in 1932 in Highland Park, Michigan, as the Lawrence Institute of Technology (LIT) by Russell E. Lawrence. Lawrence Tech’s Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering covers operations research, modeling and simulation, quality, reliability, product development, system design, statistical methods, facility planning, work design and standardization, engineering management, ergonomics, finance, supply chain, logistics, healthcare systems and business operations.

Nurruddin and William have participated in IEOM Society activities and have visited the IEOM Society office in Southfield. Part of their exchange program is to experience America and its culture while they are studying at LTU in the BSIE curriculum.  IEOM Society’s core purpose is to globally foster critical thinking and its effective utilization in the field of Industrial Engineering (IE) and Operations Management (OM) by providing means to communicate and network among diversified people, especially in emerging countries, motivated by similar interests. IEOM Professional / Student Chapter can help professionals / students in the development or enhancement their outer important skills, including: leadership, communications, organization, planning, time management, budgeting and finance, and other professional skills. Those can help to prepare for their career and to be successful in longer term. Nurruddin and William are also sharing their UNS IEOM Student Chapter experience with LTU students. The IEOM Society encourages our student chapters around the world to collaborate with other students to gain an international perspective.
